Iron Chef in my kitchen

Forget Food Network, I live with an Iron Chef.

Although he has no formal training, no papers, no pedigrees, he can kick ass with a skillet.

Tonight he made a potato/corn dish with fingerling potatoes and corn scraped off the cob. The fresh corn and red onions made it really sweet and he balanced that with chipotle. I wanted to eat the whole pan!

Periodically, he will watch FNTV and his favorite chefs, get inspired and do his own Throwdown. Or he will be shopping at Whole Foods and find something funky and run with it.

Oh! Friday he braised boneless/skinless chicken breasts in Apple Butternut soup. The soup reduced into a luscious gravy that he served with the chix. I tossed some chopped butternut squash and sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt and fresh ground pepper and roasted 'em. Ta-Da....Dinner is served. He thinks the chicken would have been a lot better if he had shredded it and cooked it in its own gravy. Maybe next time.
